I didn’t ask just anybody to shoot the photos for my CD, The Edge of America.
I’m lucky to have as a cousin nationally known photographer Craig Tanner. For you Atlantans, you may well have seen some of his large landscape photographs hanging on the walls of some of Atlanta’s largest corporations. He also is a helluva flatpicker, playing more gigs in a week than I do in a month
And, he lives in Savannah. So of course I asked if he would shoot the photos for my CD, and how could he refuse?
We scouted around for just the right setting, something that would evoke the edge of America. We agreed we didn’t want the obvious beach scene, even though the title track as well as other songs on the CD evoke and relate to an island, beach and ocean. We were also looking for a place that gave a sense of separation and solitude.
Here’s a sampling from the photo shoot at the edge of America. I can’t reveal the exact location, but I can tell you it’s off the coast of Georgia.
When you get your copy of the CD, you’ll be interested, perhaps surprised, to see which ones we used.
