Late Last Night (a demo)

This song offers a twist of sorts. A tease, perhaps.

The first verse could be the beginning of a love ballad; of how time stood still when the singer first saw his one true love.

Only in the second verse’s last two lines, do you realize this is a cheating song about infidelity; that awful moment when you realize your girlfriend or boyfriend is seeing someone else.

By the time the first verse is repeated at the end of the song, it has taken on an entirely different meaning than when you first heard it. Now there is no doubt why he couldn’t believe his eyes or why the stars fell from the sky.

The demo above is just me and my guitar.

Late last night

I saw you, late last night
time stood still, couldn’t believe my eyes
and the stars, fell from the sky
when I saw you, late last night

you looked so pretty, in that brand new dress
but I couldn’t help, but notice something else
standing with you, was some strange man
holding the hand, I once held

(bridge):

you got no idea
how much I loved you
how much I cared

when the sun, brought a new day
I couldn’t see, any way
to forgive, much less forget
what you did and what it meant

(bridge)

(v1; tag: last 2 lines)
